So our big adventure was finally here we were off to Frasier Island for a camping trip! I have never been camping before so this was going to be very new to me! Frasier is the world's largest sand island! It made of nothing but sand! We Stopped at rainbow beach, this is we would be staying over night before heading out to Frasier Island! After checking in we had to go for a briefing meeting. We had to watch a safety video on how to drive on the soft sand as it is really easy to roll the 4x4. A few weeks ago they was that big thing on the news were 2 people had died rolling their van on a 100ft sand dune! Better watch the video carefully then! It was also about the normal health and safety stuff. Oh and what to do if you were approached or attacked by a wild dingo! Great! After the Briefing we were put into groups of 11 people. We then had to work out our menu and go group shopping (it was hard enough shopping for 6 of us, 11 people was a nightmare!) That night we had an early night as it was an early start the next day! 8Am we were dressed had breakfast and was in the car garage doing our equipment and van check! 11 plates, cups, knife, forks CHECK! After we had done all we needed we were off!!! We drove to the ferry port and in that 10 minute drive my life flashed before my eyes at least 3 times! The boy driving almost tipped the van on every Corner and we were still on normal concrete roads! We made it to the ferry and took the 15 ride over to Frasier. We drove straight off the ferry on to the beach, As the tide was out we drove along the beach up to the first thing on our itinerary...Lake Mackenzie. The drive there was interesting, it was real 4x4 off roading, driving on really soft sand takes skill! You get stuck really easy!!! Lake Mackenzie was beautiful. White sand, crystal clear water and a boiling hot day! What a great first day! So for somewhere to sleep that night we had too options 1. Stay at the camp sitebut it had lights out a 9pm! Or 2.Stay on the beach! Option 2 it was!! After a few hours at the lake we drove to find a spot! We found a prefect spot the started to unpack and pitch our tents! I had no idea how to put up a tent but it was actually easier than I expected! Then it was time to cook it was getting dark and there was and everywhere! After an hour thou all 11 people had a very tasty spag bowl with the extra special seasoning of SAND! There is nothing nicer than gritty nice of sand in-between your teeth! After dinner we all sat down and drunk our trusted Goon and watched the stars. We even had a guy with a guitar singing for us! I Love camping!!!! So even after a late night by 7; 30 we were all wake had breakfast and had to re pack the Van! We then headed back on the beach up to a little place called champagne falls which was really pretty! We were meant to be going somewhere else but we got lost and decided this looked good enough! We then had some lunch on the beach Sand Sandwiches Um Um! We kind of got a little carried away and spent a little too long on the beach! The problem with beach driving is that you have to stick to the Tide times! We then realized we only had an hour to do an hour n half drive back to the inland track! So we raced back, Literally Racing the Tide it was coming closer and closer and at the last 15 minutes of the drive we were almost out of beach to drive on. Go Team Extreme! We won the Race and headed to The Aboriginal Camp for the night! We set up camp and headed back out to explore more. We went to see the Turtle Lake...yep full of turtes then headed back to the beach for some more sunning! As the sun was setting we drove back to camp! Tonight's dinner was a BBQ as they had one at the camp; the food was amazing and a lot less sand! We also had a camp fire to keep as nicer and warm, the first night was freezing! So we drunk our goon, song some songs and played a few games around the camp fire! Again such a good night! The end of the night one of the guys that worked their took a few of us down to the beach! 3am - Gooned on a island beach! Wow! You shouldn’t swim in the sea at Frasier as it is full of Sharks, String rays and jelly fish! But with a belly full of Goon and being Donkey dared me and the guy decided to go for a 3am swim! I got thrown about by a few waves but not eaten by a shark thankfully! The following morning we had over slept but still decided to head up to the top point of the island! After we made a few snaps, yet again it was a race back down the beach to catch or ferry home! I had a little go drive but it was really had work and quite scary, the car slides all over the place and because it’s really top heavy it feels like its going to roll! I drove through the waves and through little streams it was only for about 30 hour but it was fun. So we made it back to the ferry.......Bye Frasier Island!!!
